A Season of Joy

It was truly a season of joy as more than 2,500 children in the Los Angeles area received a full Christmas experience from Alpha Phi Alpha's Beta Psi Lambda and Alpha Kappa Alpha's Tau Tau Omega Chapter (Santa Monica Alumni).  Photos by Brother Jason Lewis

Christmas can be an extremely challenging time for a lot of families, so members of both chapters created an event to make the holiday season a little brighter for children and families who are less fortunate.  This joint effort exhibited everything from toys, clothing, food baskets, and financial assistance

Two events were held.  The first one being a Christmas luncheon at Dorsey High School for families affected by sickle cell.  Families were served lunch and the children received toys from Santa Clause.

The second event was a Christmas party in the Imperial Court Housing Projects, where nearly 2,500 children received toys and were able to watch a Christmas program.

Beta Psi Lambda and Tau Tau Omega were joined in these efforts by Mattel Toys, Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California, A New Way of Life Foundation, The Alpha Esquires, The Los Angeles Police Department, and the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles.
