Beta Psi Lambda Chapter Opens New House on Block

Beta Psi Lambda Chapter members join their “Alpha Esquires” mentees on the front steps of their new chapter house.

Saturday, July 13, was the first "Ice Cold" afternoon in sunny Southern California for Beta Psi Lambda's newly renovated multi-use house, which is named in honor of Brother Walter DeBose. The chapter participated in the National Council of Negro Women's annual “Black Family Reunion Block Party” in their front yard.

“Having our own house will greatly enhance our chapter, our programs, and our ability to service our community," said Brother Jason Douglas Lewis, Chapter President.

The house will serve as a primary meeting location for the chapter and local organizations, and it will be a venue to host events, as well as small business office space.

In addition, Beta Psi Lambda closed out their fraternal year with several other achievements.  Esquires, their mentorship program, has partnered with over 30 teenaged boys ranging from the 6th to 12th grade. They have participated in academic study sessions, financial seminars, fundraisers, and etiquette workshops.  The chapter raised a total of $2,405 this year for the March of Dimes, one of the highest totals in the Western Region.  Without a doubt, Beta Psi Lambda is on the move onward and upward.
